Currently I am affiliated with the department of Thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan College of Medicine. I have graduated from Yonsei (Severance) University Medical School in 1988 and completed residency training in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the same affiliated medical center. I went on to spend 2 years as a valve research fellow in Montana, USA, under the mentorship of Dr Carlos Duran, after which I have remained a permanent attending faculty at the professorial level at Asan Medical Center, Seoul, Korea. I am currently a full professor and working in concert with the Korean Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery as the Chair of the Korea Aorta Research Group, an affiliated subdivision of the society to promote international relationships and interests to advance the field of aortic surgery and endovascular surgery in Korea.
